This show was commissioned by the Randall High School Band, David Wright, Director of Bands. Machu Picchu, City in the Sky (The mystery of the hidden Sun Temple) is a Concert Band work by Japanese composer, Satoshi Yagisawa.


The piece depicts the majesty of the Incan Empire during the 16th Century. Irresistible to Francisco Pizarro, while stripping the city of massive quantities of gold, in 1533 he destroyed the Cuzco’s Sun Temple, shrine of the founding deity of the Incan civilization.
