The Katana

LICENSING INFORMATION: This is an Original Show. No licensing is necessary for this show.

This original show by Ralph Hicks, takes the audience through the journey of the Samurai. The Samurai goes from being selected, to training, to longing for his family and finally to battle.

There are plenty of opportunities for visual integration and body movement. Many sections can be played as solos or as section features. Range, key and scoring for this show makes it playable and gives off the effect that it is more difficult than it really is.

The percussion scoring is impactful but not overly difficult.

This version was adapted for the Panhandle High School Band (1A) and is based on the original Katana show which was written for the Abilene Cooper Band (then a 4A school). If you want information on the 4A, original version of this show, you can email Ralph Hicks.
